Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of British sovereigns since 1837. The Palace is a setting for Royal Ceremonies, State occasions and often becomes the focal point for the British people at times of national celebration. The state rooms, used for official entertaining, are open to the public each year for most of August and September.
