Not far along the River Thames from Greenwich where Johnny Depp is currently filming the latest Pirates of the Carribean film is the area of Wapping, so named as it was here that the Pirates were chained to riverbed and the tide would wash over them until they were inflated ‘whoppers’. The pub nearby was a favourte of trusted Captain turned infamous pirate, William Kidd in the 18th Century.
