The Barbican is a residential, cultural and arts centre in the City of London. It includes three of London's tallest residential towers (at over 400 feet tall), the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, an Arts Centre with theatres, cinemas and a concert hall, the City of London School for Girls and the Museum of London.

The structure was built in the 1970's in the 'brutalist' style and seems to be loved and hated in equal measure. Some see it as colossal, ugly, grey concrete monster, others as a radical, architectural triumph. In 2008, it was included in a list of top 20, 'must-visit' buildings in the British Isles (compiled by the publisher Dorling Kindersley).
