In its 900 year history, The Tower of London has been a fortress, palace, prison, jewel house, arsenal, mint, menagerie and place of execution.

Royalty, notables, traitors and criminals have met a grisly end here including Guy Fawkes tortured into confession after the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, two of Henry Vlll's wives executed on Tower Green away from the ghoulish crowds, and the Little Princes murdered by their uncle Richard lll.

Ghostly apparitions have been reported at the Tower since the 13th century including the headless ghost of Anne Boleyn and the Little Princes gliding down the stairs of the Bloody Tower in their nightgowns.
