“Everyone wants to stay in a castle at the moment …” observed one of my colleagues the other day “half the calls seem to be about ‘The Castle Tour’  ’”

We’d organised castle stays before but only put together a specific ‘stay in a castle’ tour for the first time last summer. This was a 2 day private tour, with a night at 900 year old Amberley Castle - a deluxe hotel hidden behind 60 ft curtain walls set in beautiful landscaped gardens.

The two days  include Stonehenge, Hampton Court Palace and three of  England’s best-known castles  – Leeds Castle, a fairy-tale castle set on an island in the middle of a lake – Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn second wife of Henry Vlll and Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and official residence of the Queen.

Such was the interest that we’ll be promoting a new, private overnight castle tour soon - this time travelling West. The night’s at historic Thornbury Castle in Gloucestershire – the only Tudor castle in England to be open as an hotel, stayed in by King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Subject to availability you can even stay in their very room. The two days include visits to the Roman city of Bath, the  Cotswolds and the University city of Oxford. Three castles are again included – this time they’re WindsorBerkeley and Warwick.
