countryside, famous gardens, fine castles, magnificent
cathedrals, abbeys, historic cities and villages. The 14 day
tour allows two nights each in York, Edinburgh, North Wales,
Stratford and West Sussex to do justice to them and their
surroundings but the tour can be shortened by 2 or 3 days if
desired.
Visit Cambridge, beautifully situated along the river
Cam and either Stamford one of the finest medieval
towns in Europe and Elizabethan Burghley House
or historic Lincoln and Chatsworth.
Continue
to the beautiful walled city of York where you will
spend two nights. Having preserved so much of its medieval
structure York is like a living museum: a magnificent
Minster, a host of half-timbered buildings and 18 medieval
churches.
Your drive North takes you past the Abbeys at
Fountains, Jedburgh and Melrose,
Hadrian's Wall and Floors, Scotland's largest
inhabited castle. The next two nights are spent in
Edinburgh, widely regarded as one of Europe's most handsome
capitals.
Drive via Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen
of Scots to the Trossachs a beautiful region of lochs
and mountains with birchwood and pine forests. Then via
Robert Burns country and Gretna Green to the beautiful
Lake District for your next overnight stay. Visit
Wordsworth's Cottage and Elizabethan Levens
Hall.
The following day continue via the walled city of
Chester with a fine red sandstone Cathedral, Roman
amphitheatre and the famous "Rows" on your way to North
Wales. You will have two nights here to relax and
explore the region: see one or two of the massive castles
built by Edward I - Beaumaris, Harlech,
Caernarfon or Conwy, beautiful Bodnant
Gardens and the splendid Snowdonia National Park.
Continue via Shrewsbury and Ludlow with pretty
half-timbered Tudor buildings to Stratford-Upon-Avon
where you will spend two nights. The picturesque
Cotswolds, magnificent Blenheim Palace and
Oxford can easily be visited from here.

of Bath.
